IELTS Speaking coaching
The Speaking test lasts 11 to 14 minutes and is a live conversation with a real examiner. It's also the hardest part to practise on your own, because you need someone to talk to and someone to tell you what to fix. Here's how we prepare for it together, with a clear plan from the first lesson.
The three parts of the test
Part 1 · Introduction (4 to 5 min)
Questions about familiar topics like your home, work, studies and hobbies. The aim is natural answers that go a little beyond "yes" or "no", without sounding rehearsed. That's exactly what we practise.
Part 2 · The long turn (3 to 4 min)
You get a task card, one minute to prepare and up to two minutes to speak. We practise quick notes, a simple structure, and keeping going for the full two minutes without running dry.
Part 3 · Discussion (4 to 5 min)
A deeper discussion linked to your Part 2 topic, with more abstract questions. Many students find this the hardest part, because you need to give opinions, compare and speculate, and have the grammar and vocabulary to do it. We practise it a lot.
What a lesson can look like
Every lesson is built around you, so no two look exactly the same. A typical 50 minutes might include:
- A warm-up conversation in British English
- One skill to focus on: fluency, vocabulary, grammar or pronunciation
- Focused learning activities built around that skill
- Timed practice with exam-style questions
- Feedback, corrections and your notes for the week
What the assessment includes
The 10-lesson programme includes a free 30-minute speaking assessment: a full mock Speaking test with all three parts, timed like the real thing, with some quick feedback straight afterwards. In your next lesson, we go through your estimated band for each of the four scoring areas and agree a plan for what to fix first. It's my estimate, not an official IELTS score, but it shows you clearly where you are now and what to work on.

Academic or General Training?
The Speaking test is identical for both. Everything here applies to either.
How many lessons do I need?
There's no fixed number. It depends on where you are now, your target band and how long you have before the test. In the free introduction, I'll listen to you speak and give you an honest estimate.
Can you guarantee a band?
No one honestly can, because your score is decided by the examiner on the day, so be wary of anyone who promises one. What I can promise is that I'll put you in the best possible position. I've helped students reach their target bands, I study how IELTS Speaking is marked, and I use timed mock tests so we always know where you stand. You'll get honest feedback and a clear plan focused on what will make the biggest difference to your score.
What if my exam is soon?
Get in touch as soon as you can. With only a few weeks, we focus on the areas that will make the biggest difference and do plenty of timed practice. I'll tell you honestly what's realistic in the time you have.
Which platform do we use?
Google Meet. You get a calendar invite with the link after booking, plus a reminder before the lesson.
